Today on the way to work in the rain was pure chaos. People in NoVa can not drive.

66 was a mess probably because of an accident. So I bailed onto Braddock. Four car pile up on that road. Looks like someone slid or was pushed into oncoming traffic. Everyone seemed to be okay. Get close to GMU and thats when shit got crazy.

Had just gave a fireman some change at the light. It turns green and we are at the front so everyone goes nuts and speeds off the line because they are finally out of the traffic heavy part of the GMU campus. Only there is a turn lane up ahead. So all those people had to slam on their brakes again. Early 00's civic nose dives and goes right under the also nose diving toyota land cruiser/4runner variant infront of him. Directly in front of me. I was too shocked to whip out my cell to snap a pick before he backed up and from underneath the suv. I laughed. And then felt bad for laughing.

Was being cautious the rest of the way into alexandria. Got to Duke st and bam a Ranger pulls out into oncoming traffic and punts a toyota something onto the sidewalk. And THAT is why I hate walking with my back to traffic. I will cross the road twice to avoid having to do this. If you had you your back turned to that car going 40 mph down Duke there would be no time for you to react.

So needless to say I'll be shopping for a dash cam so I can show you all how crazy this area is.

You just lived my dream commute! I mean I never would want anyone to get hurt but I want to see an accident SOOOOOOO BAD. I always hear the squeal but never the bang. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride :(

At first, your photo wouldn't load, so it was just one of those blank "image broken" boxes with the text "That is it! I am getting a dash cam." inside. Quite hilarious.

You'd think people would realize, at some point, that it costs a whole lot more to repair a car than to take an alternate commute, improve your driving, or take more time.

This is the DC metro I am talking about. There are no good alternative commutes haha.

I don't expect much from drivers around here. So today was only shocking because I witnessed it all within 30 minutes.

I leave everyday around the same time. Sometimes it takes 40 minutes sometimes it takes an hour and a half. Lemons. Just take them and squirt them in your eyes because traffic isnt going to get any better magically.

Haha. Great analogy. Yup it was crazy. Good thing I am getting out of NoVa early this week and travelling. Could be dead by the end of the week at this rate.

True. When I drive over it on 28 I look down to see if there are four lanes of brake lights. If so I go in Braddock Rd. If not I just grin and bear it.

Yup, a little bit of rain and people freak the hell out. Especially after dark.

Coming from Michigan originally, it's even worse when a tiny bit of snow falls and hasn't even accumulated. School gets cancelled and I'm the only person still driving the speed limit despite the roads being perfectly safe.

Yupppp. It hadn't even rained that hard. That may have been the problem. If it was full on raining it would click in their little brains that hey its raining...chill the fuck out.

Nah, if you have 4WD you're immune from spinning out, right?

Move to North Virginia/DC/Maryland aka the DMV and you'll see an accident at least every month with regular commuting.

That's why I escaped to Florida. Everyone may be crazy here (on account of the humidity...and the meth) but they tend not to bump into each other.
